Sunshine, July and Daily Tangents #9 Toothbrush
Hello and welcome to day 9 of Sunshine, July and Daily Tangents.
My name is Buddy Summer and I am a Creative which means that I have a passion for creating. I love many creative outlets and one of them is writing.
If you are new to this blog you won't know that I have started a blog project for the month of July. This is where I write a post based on the prompts from the image below every day of this month. It's something I've never done before and I'm using it as a way of stretching my creativity. I absolutely love my blog and so giving it my attention for a whole month feels like a very wonderful thing...
It kick-started with Balloons on the 1st of July. Here is the link in case you wanted to start from the beginning: Here
Yesterday's post was uploaded a little bit later than I intended (this morning at around 12). I went to the cinema last night to see Toy Story, arrived home and started writing straight away which had a domino effect of posting later than the usual.
Toy Story 4 was such a cute film! When I was little I had a doll of Jessie. I think, if I remember, correctly she was a favourite toy for a little while. I can definitely remember playing monopoly with her and having her by my side after seeing Toy Story 2.
So, the word Toothbrush is today's word and this is a theme that I instantly knew what I wanted to talk about. This was not a difficult topic.
A few weeks ago I was sat working away to a deadline in a room surrounded by others doing the same. There was music on, sketchbooks out on the tables and fellow artists walking about with their final pieces. There was a happy vibe with the excitement of the due date and only about 30% of stress filling the air.
My friends were sat behind me and were the DJs for this room filled with only about 6 people, including myself. I must admit, some of the music playing was not to my taste as I'm not the RnB rap sort. This only made my ears prick up higher when a song that I used to love started playing. This song was Toothbrush by DNCE.
By the time I had heard this song a few years ago, I think it was past its highest point of popularity- You may have noticed if you've visited my blog before that I'm not always with it in terms of the latest trends. The song is just so feel good and it's one that I love to sing. Is it just me that has a select amount of song that I feel like I can hit the note of? I probably can't, but it just feels good to sing.
Somehow I had forgotten that this was a song I really liked. Hearing it again was a reminder to store it in my brain for when I need a pick me up.
...and I love when that happens...
When you overhear a conversation or a song or see something that reminded you of a good memory that then sticks with you for a little while. I experienced this a little while ago with the song Superstar by Jamela. I want to try and note these things down so that I have them in my bank of happy. This is why I started writing a monthly favourites blog post each month- so that I can look back whenever and not leave it to my brain to try and remember that particular song that made me happy the last time I heard it.
If you haven't heard the song, I definitely recommend it. Other personal pick me ups are:
- Walking on sunshine
- Let it be by the Beatles
- Hey Jude by the Beatles
- Octopuses garden by the Beatles
- Obladi Oblada by the Beatles
- Superstar by Jamela
- This Will Be by Natalie Cole
- All-Star (from Shrek)
- Monsters Ink jazz theme song
As ever, Thank you for reading day 9. I will be back tomorrow with day 10: Taboo.
