Sunshine, July and Daily Tangents #4 Snail

Hello and welcome to day 4 of Sunshine, July and Daily Tangents.

I am currently sat watching Night School starring Kevin Hart which I haven't seen before- very distracting when you're trying to write a blog post. Kevin Hart made me cry with laughter the most recent time he was on Graham Norton so I get the feeling I may like this film. In fact, I may add two little asterisks (**) whenever I get distracted from writing...

So today's theme is snails and I was very pleased with myself when I came up with the idea to make Cinnamon Snails aka Cinnamon Swirls. I have a strong love of cinnamon and pastry swirls are due to feature in ** Junes Favourites (coming soon).
I tried to think outside of the box for this theme which lead me to look at the swirls found on the shell of snails. I considered cupcakes until I thought ** for a little while and actually...I'm not a fan of cake, where would the excitement be?
Not only did my love of cinnamon waver in favour of these treats but the shades of brown replicated the browns of snail shells- Perfect!

To make these Cinnamon snails ** I followed a recipe I found online. It was surprisingly simple. The recipe is from blog site Baking With Granny and I followed it exactly up until the decorative icing stage. Instead, I ** melted dark chocolate to create the darker tones of the shell. To apply this to the pastry I used a spoon and the thin running chocolate. I later found out (or rather when I had one left to complete) that there is a tool specifically for details like this. Hey Ho! I'm no baker...

The overall time was over 2 hours. I wanted the Cinnamon Snails to cool before the chocolate which meant that by the time I got to taking pictures it was beginning to get dark outside. I wasn't into the artificial lighting which lead me to take the photos outside. I think this is one of the good things about a daily blog- there's no time to stress or make things perfect as there's a time limit. Of course, I would love to take better photos in the beautiful sunshine but in my experience snails come out of hiding at night time; they especially love shoes- I have many streaks of silver on my ** shoes.

At the end of my day, I ate a Cinnamon Snail and it was delicious! I am so up for making more in the future.

** -As I said at the beginning Night School is very distracting and caught my attention many times throughout the writing of this post. I may write with music on in the background instead of a movie tomorrow.

Thank you very much for reading and happy Thursday! I will be back tomorrow with day 5: Kindness.

Love,
Buddy Summer xx
