Sunshine, July and Daily Tangents #18 Peach

Original Painting by Buddy Summer

Well hello, and welcome to day 18 of Sunshine, July and Daily Tangents. I'm attempting to start with other introductions rather than just Hello so today I added a well- I'm not confident that it's going to stay if I'm honest.

I loved painting yesterdays Penguins so much that I decided to do another painting for today's theme; Peach. I struggled a little and there were a few times when I said 'oh no' when I felt I had messed up. However, there were more internal 'oh no' s then there were out loud so I count that as a good thing. I seemed to rush into today's painting rather than thinking about how and what I was going to do first like I did yesterday. I've been trying a new way of painting and I'm enjoying stretching out of my comfort zone but I seem to get caught up in my typical technique rather than this new one. Today I seemed to have forgotten what I always say I love about painting and art: You can't go wrong if you keep working on it. You mess up? turn your mistake into your opportunity by creating something new and going with the different style. Paint colours not doing what you wanted them to? keep working into it.
I'm really pleased with the end result and again I've had a good time painting! I forget how much I love it when I'm away from it.

Today's theme is Peach and the recollection I have with this word is from a few weeks ago when I was watching Graham Norton. David Tennant (my absolute favourite Doctor) was sat on the red couch and talking about his involuntary leap into the 21 century. More specifically, he was sharing his newfound discovery of the secret meaning of emojis in the world of texting. It seemed that the purple aubergine had stayed an aubergine in his mind. I dread to think of how many texts he received with dodgy emojis that he responded with a well-meaning reply.

...I mean, I kind of knew about the eggplant emoji- I'm not that far out of reach- but I'm now really concerned about using emojis in case they mean something else. I had absolutely no idea about all of the other emojis and what they're really saying. For example, the Peach. Apparently, this is not just a peach but a be-hind; a derriere. Did you know this? I thought I had the emojis down as I use them: mostly the exciting smiley face and often I branch out to the little people, an avocado if I'm feeling green but now I will be choosing through the selection with a hesitant finger!

Always love a bit of paint!

This feels like the citrus scale all over again (Day 2: Lime). I've entered a new world in which I'm not sure what I'm getting into- or what I've done in my innocence of fun emojis.

As ever, thank you for reading my blog post! I will see you tomorrow with day 19: Umbrella.

I'm going to leave my list of prompts here just as a reminder if you happen to be following my blog project this month...

Love,
Buddy xx
