Sunshine, July and Daily Tangents #13 Sway

Hello and welcome to Sunshine, July and Daily Tangents. You are reading day 13 which is based on the word Sway from my list of random prompts...
I've had a very energetic day today. I was at my little nephews birthday party, there was a bouncy castle, sweets and a lot of excitement which as you can imagine lead to a very lively day. I had a go on the bouncy castle and it was as much fun as I remembered. I was given cake and sweets as I left which basically meant that I went to a children's birthday party.
Back to today's theme...
The first thought that came to mind when I noted down this word was a wedding I went to a few years ago. But actually writing that down a vision of a crowd of people at a wedding with their hands high up in the air, a white dress lady at the front and guests shaded in the blue of the evening receptions disco lights, springs to mind. It wasn't like that.
There was music and dancing- as there always is in the evening of a wedding- and I had turned up in a dress above the knee with my appearance made all fancy. Ultimately I looked at the dance floor and internally panicked a bit. Dancing is not in my skill set. After a bit of chatting everybody had moved to the dancefloor and I could feel the panic rising a little bit more. Before I realised properly, my feet were on the wooden floor and I was stood with a group that had... taken to the music if you will. My wedding buddy had joined in, once I'd made a move to leave the dancing crowd they brought me back and told me to stay. Not really knowing where else to linger for a minute anyway, I stayed put and looked to people around me.
I started to Sway essentially- One foot to the left and my body went with it, one foot to the right and my body followed. Later on, I gained more confidence and started jokingly doing the old school 1960s one hand outstretched in front of me then replacing the other. Someone other than my wedding buddy saw and said: "I saw that!".
At the time I remember thinking I had had a fun night but to this day my awkwardness with dancing remains. But really, does anyone find it not awkward? Probably but I know there are people out in the world that feel the same as I do.
Fundamentally this is a post about my awkwardness with dancing. It doesn't come easy and when I watch Strictly Come Dancing I always say: I wish I could dance like that.
As ever, Thank you for reading day 13 of Sunshine, July and Daily Tangents. I will be back tomorrow with day 14: Moonlight.
Love,
Buddy Summer xx
