Sunshine, July and Daily Tangents #11 Paddington
Hello and welcome to day 11 of Sunshine, July and Daily Tangents.
This blog comes from 10 in the evening of day 11 so I guess I didn't quite stick to my writing the day before upload day plan. But I have a very good reason...
Today I had the best time in my favourite place in the world! This will be revealed in a blog post for one day in this month of Sunshine, July and Daily Tangents. I had so much fun creating and chatting art and I made some really cool things! One of the best things is that the outcome I made was created by way of experimentation- I certainly had no idea it would turn out that well! My hopes particularly weren't low or high I just thought I'd give it a go and tremendously I'm obsessed with the result. I love art and creating and today was a successful day that reassured how wonderful it is to just create without pressure- not that this had to be reassured. Creating is amazing and I hope to do it for the rest of time.
I realise that I'm not giving you a lot of context but just know I have great things to share and today I had a wonderful time.
Other reasons why today was beyond brilliant was because I had my favourite dinner, I was given an art tool that I will cherish forever and am so so grateful for, I had lovely chats with like-minded people, I conquered today's anxiety, I made work that I will also cherish forever, I'm nearly at the end of Eve of Man (really don't want it to end but I'm enjoying it so much- especially what I read today), I was given the last of the shortbread and a beautiful tin- How b.e.autiful a day!
I felt like me today which is just a really wonderful feeling.
All of these things occurred without me thinking: what can I do to make today brilliant? It was a day I want more of, I felt like my own person which not everyone will understand but I was in my place doing my thing and it wasn't so far a stretch out my comfort zone but enough to feel that achievement.
Good day. Good day.
Today's word is Paddington and actually, this was one of the words I knew I wanted in this blog project; And one that inspired me to think creatively for the month of July and see what happens.
Story Time: When I was little myself, my mum and dad would visit car boot sales a lot.
If you don't know what this is, it's when people gather all of their unwanted items and visit a field designated for boot sales on a particular day and sell these items. You would open up your car boot, prop up a foldaway table and lay the things for sale across it. Some people go for fancy and neat piles whereas others go for a scramble around until you find something style.
It was always sunny at boot sales in my memory, a couple cloudy but if it were ever to rain the outdoor shopping would be cancelled. I would feel like we visited every weekend but I'm not sure if this is my young brain exaggerating it a little bit. I loved boot sales and I would always try and find Doctor Who items with Rose and David Tennant on.
My other love and obsession for a very long time were teddy bears. Whenever I'd see a teddy, either on a tartan blanket with other toys or in a toy box, I would will my parents over to it to find my next cuddly friend. I was quite the hoarder and wanted them all, nevertheless, I would come away with one special one. After some time I grew in confidence and would walk over myself but most memories (including this one) either my mum or dad were with me.
On one occasion I found a medium-sized bear with a little red hat and a cosy blue coat. I immediately wanted him and strolled along the rest of the boot sale with him in my arms. I was starting to get the attention I wasn't used to simply walking with my mum. People selling their possessions would make references to the bear in my hands and marmalade sandwiches. They'd tell me to look after him and a couple other things I couldn't make sense of. Being very shy, I simply smiled along. When the attention moved on I looked to my mum to ask what was happening. She told me that this wasn't any old teddy but a Bear named Paddington that comes with a story. It was years later when the film Paddington came out that I was able to grasp the story and see how cherished this bear is/was.
What I would love here is to show a picture of the bear but I sadly don't have one. I will have a look, I promise...
I still love boot sales but admittedly I don't go to as many as I did. When I do I look for those old Doctor Who items with Rose and the Doctor on (my favourite series) and bits and bobs to use for art. One of the last times I went I managed to find Doctor Who pin badges- there were many but I think I chose either the Tardis and K-9 or the Tardis and a Cyberman? I will let you know...
Thank you for reading today's Sunshine, July and Daily Tangents post. I hope you're enjoying them if any of you are reading regularly. If this is your first one, Let me know.
All my love,
Here's to more good days!
