Christmas Movie List / Blogmas Day Nineteen

December 19th- Movie

The film I watch every Christmas and the one that gets me excited, my top Christmas movie: The Santa Claus with Tim Allen as Santa. Every time I watch this film I get the Christmas Eve excitement feeling of little me. I've watched it since I was little and so, without fail, the adrenaline returns and I'm ready for Father Christmas to descend down the chimney.

The second film I watch every year, you may have guessed: The Santa Claus 2. Its predecessor is my favourite, nonetheless, this one's a goodun.
Number three of this set is not always watched every year, not going to lie. I enjoy it but find that the simplicity of the first film and picture quality has that innocents of an old movie, the third features bright colours and modern film tools. That's not to say it isn't great and that any of them are any lesser is brilliance.
Tim Allen is Father Christmas in my mind.

My next favourite December movie (which I often watch through January too) is Love Actually. I love the soundtrack and working out in my head how all of the characters link.
I had a discussion today about certain parts, in particular, Alan Rickman's characters situation. Myself and my friend both agree how powerful a moment it is when Emma Thompson's character has a moment alone with her new soundtrack. She's such a brilliant actress and in the moment she captures the emotions of the audience.
Also, did anyone else know that Rowan Atkinson's character is proposed to be an angel? The writers place him in a situation in order to steer the other characters.

The next film you ask? The Holiday. I love love love this film. It was my first Christmas film of December and again reminded me of childhood.

I'm going to add The Greatest Showman to this list. As I've mentioned in my previous post, it feels right to watch it this time of year. Christmas and New Year is definitely the time to soak up this good feeling/optimism.

The Family Stone. Love Racheal Mcadams. I seem to like whatever film she's in and she has become my favourite actress- I'd say for the past few years but upon reflection its been way longer. Where has the time gone?

Finally, A Christmas Carol. Admittedly not one I watch every year, however, I do appreciate it. It reminds me of school festive feels. I remember one part which made everybody jump out of their skin, followed by giggles.

Two films I have never seen and am well up for trying: It's A Wonderful life and Arthur Christmas. The former, Its such a popular film and yet I don't think I've ever met someone who has watched it- may be a bit extreme but I am looking forward to trying and then solving the hype. Arthur Christmas, I'm intrigued to discover if I'll like it or not. I'll let you know.

Thank you for reading and Merry December 19th!

Love Buddy Summer xx
