Sunshine, July and Daily Tangents #16 Library

Hello readers! Welcome to Sunshine, July and Daily Tangents. I hope you've all had a lovely Tuesday.

I have had a day with my Mumma today. We had a trip strolling around the charity shops and then in the afternoon, I took to creating cyanotypes in the garden. They didn't turn out how I had expected and I may have blamed my tools a tiny bit but I am very confused about the results; they came out rather blurry and too dark. It's possibly because of the design or maybe there wasn't enough pressure on the sandwiched cyanotype pieces?

If anyone reading creates cyanotypes regularly, I would love to know any tips or fun things you've tried. Cyanotypes are my favourite thing in the world (I have been dubbed the Cyanotype Queen which I welcome) and I would love to converse with other Cyanotypers!

I didn't purchase anything on this trip but I did happen to see quite a few things that caught my interest and also a DVD that I see every time I enter a charity shop; Atonement. Has anyone ever watched this film? I haven't but I almost want to just to see if afterwards, whether I notice it in charity shops still.

I wasn't going to include this but seeing someone I follow online I've decided I would like to share it: I felt a little bit anxious today and not entirely great in myself later on. I think it's important to be honest, and doing these posts every day for this month has highlighted how difficult it is to talk about your day in a positive light when it hasn't felt entirely positive. I would like to pour goodness into this blog and in turn emit it as well on this platform. Positivity is what I like reading/watching but I also take comfort in reading/ watching others being honest about how they are feeling and sharing that side of themselves. Often everyone around can seem like they are having the best life on earth when in reality not everything is sunshine and rainbows 100% of the time.
So this is all that I'm going to say about those feelings but I feel better that these posts don't have to feel out of touch even a small percentage.

Now it is very apt that today's word is Library because I stepped foot in a library only this morning. I had to take a book back after having it for a while and I am very sure I couldn't have borrowed it for much longer. Anyway, I'm pleased it's back and that's one thing off the to-do list.

By chance, I was watching a video on youtube which featured a mention of a library you can get married in. I think this is such a lovely idea and how cool to go to a wedding in a library. I reckon it would be both magical, cosy and distracting; I've been to book events before that took place in a book shop and sitting there waiting I couldn't take my eyes off of the shelves. It's unique and meaningful and as an avid reader, I imagine it would feel like a part of you.
Imagine the bride feeling nervous stood in front of family and friends and then looking just slightly above her partner's shoulder to see a favourite book. One compressing memories of sunny days reading in the park or childhood bedtimes with a loved one reading a story.

All that creativity encompassing you. You aren't just joined by your guests but by characters paused of their life to witness another.

Also, what a beautiful background to have in your photos!

Libraries are my safe place where I always feel comfortable and content. If you've been reading my blog for a while you will know how much I love getting lost in stories.

I did a little bit of research after this video and found that it's not such an unknown thing to do to get married in a library. The photographs are incredible and aren't too far away from what I imagined. It's creativity reaching more aspects of life and I love it.

Thank you for reading day 16 of Sunshine, July and Daily Tangents. I didn't expect this theme to go where it went today but this is why I didn't plan too far in advance.
I will see you tomorrow for day 17: Penguin.

Love,
Buddy xx
